Respite Care

Rest, knowing your loved one is in good hands.

Respite care gives a family caregiver time off from the care they provide — to rest, recharge, or tend to personal business — while a skilled, compassionate caregiver steps in.

Helping families is at the core of what we do. When we provide respite care, we know our client isn't the only one who benefits — their family and friends gain the peace of mind of knowing their loved one is well cared for by someone skilled and kind. We provide respite care to dozens of families every day.

Two ways to use respite care

Regularly scheduled respite

When you can anticipate the need, an ongoing shift — daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, from 4 to 24 hours — gives you a break you can count on. We do our best to send the same caregiver each visit for consistency.

Emergency or as-needed respite

Sometimes the need can't be planned — you get sick, another family member needs you, or you simply wake up exhausted. When that happens, we'll find a caregiver to meet your family's immediate need.

What a respite caregiver does

Whether scheduled or on short notice, your respite caregiver is trained to follow the full care plan — morning and bedtime routines, plus personal care throughout the day: bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, mobility, and transfers. They also provide medication reminders, light housekeeping and laundry, transportation and shopping, meal preparation, and companionship and supervision — working closely with you to make the hand-off seamless for your loved one.

Caregiver, are you running on empty?

Burnout is common, and asking for help isn't giving up. A few hours can make all the difference.
